MINZ is a free, lightweight, open-source advanced calculator designed for engineers, scientists, students, teachers, developers, and makers. Running entirely locally in your browser, it handles everything from everyday math to matrix algebra and complex physical unit conversions—available everywhere, to everyone.
Looking for inspiration? Jump straight to the STEM Applied Examples.
MINZ can be installed directly to your device for offline use:
• iOS (Safari): Tap the "Share" icon and select "Add to Home Screen".
• Android / Chrome: Tap the browser menu and select "Add to Home screen" and/or "Install".
• Desktop: Click the install icon on the right side of the URL bar.
Seamlessly switch between modes to handle specific calculation tasks directly on your device.
Standard everyday math operations. Honors standard order of operations.
2 + 3 * 4
= 14
Advanced scientific capabilities, functions, and constants. Use standard 'E' for scientific notation and italic 'e' for Euler's constant. Though, technically both ways work.
Scientific notation of, e.g., elementary charge:
1.602E-19 * 2
= 3.204E-19
Complex numbers:
(2 + 3i) * (1 - i)
= 5 + i
Trigonometry defaults to radians. Pass plain numbers for radians, or explicitly attach the "deg" unit to calculate in degrees:
sin(pi / 2)
= 1
sin(90 deg)
= 1
Convert and calculate with physical units (physics, science, engineering). Processing units is an incredibly powerful feature of math.js.
See the official math.js units documentation for a complete list of supported physical units, prefixes, and formatting options.
10 cm to inch
= 3.9370078740157 inch
5 kg * 9.81 m/s^2
= 49.05 N
Extract numerical values from units for further processing using the number() function.
number(5 cm, mm)
= 50
number(100 degC, degF)
= 212
Bitwise logic and base conversions (Hex, Dec, Oct, Bin).
0xFF & 0x0F
= 15
10 << 2
= 40
Advanced variable assignment, matrix algebra, and statistics. While Pro gives you advanced keys, Term mode hides all buttons so you have a massive terminal view and full control via your keyboard.
Variable assignment and algebraic equations (use semicolons to chain):
a=1; b=2; x=3; y=a*x+b
= 5
Matrix operations (Eigenvalues and Rank):
Ma = [1, 0; 0, 1]; rank(Ma)
= 2
Pro Tip: Use up/down arrow keys on a hardware keyboard to navigate calculation history.
You can type these 25+ built-in functions directly into the calculator:
MINZ is designed to handle complex interdisciplinary calculations. Here are practical examples of what MINZ can solve natively:
Calculate current in milliamperes given voltage and resistance.
12 V / 150 ohm to mA
= 80 mA
Calculate the thermal voltage of a PN junction at room temperature (300 K) using built-in physical constants.
(boltzmann * 300 K) / elementaryCharge to mV
= 25.852029647225 mV
Convert an engine's output from Imperial Horsepower to Watts.
100 hp to W
= 74569.9872 W
Calculate the energy of a green photon (500 nm wavelength) in electron-volts using native math.js constants.
planckConstant * (speedOfLight / 500 nm) to eV
= 2.47968 eV
Calculate the molar concentration of a solution.
0.5 mol / 2 L to mol/L
= 0.25 mol / L
Calculate the orthogonal normal vector of two 3D vectors.
cross([1, 0, 0], [0, 1, 0])
= [0, 0, 1]
Calculate Body Mass Index using mixed units (kilograms and feet/inches). Because math.js internally calculates using base SI units, it automatically converts the imperial height to meters and outputs the correct standard BMI unit.
75 kg / (5 ft + 11 inch)^2
= 23.0609 kg / m^2
Calculate Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) using a standard blood pressure reading of 120/80 (Systolic/Diastolic) in millimeters of mercury.
80 mmHg + 1/3 * (120 mmHg - 80 mmHg)
= 93.3333 mmHg
You can also easily convert this pressure reading directly into millibars (mbar) using the "to" operator.
(80 mmHg + 1/3 * (120 mmHg - 80 mmHg)) to mbar
= 124.434 mbar
Calculate a continuous syringe pump infusion rate. A 12 lb pediatric patient requires a medication dosed at 0.1 mg/kg per hour. The syringe concentration is 1 mg/mL. Find the exact pump rate in microliters per hour (uL/hrs). math.js seamlessly handles the imperial-to-metric weight conversion and the volume scaling.
(12 lb * 0.1 mg / kg) / (1 mg / mL) / 1 hrs to uL / hrs
= 544.311 uL / hrs
Calculate the exact voltage step size (in millivolts) of a standard 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (like on an ESP32 or STM32) using a 3.3V reference voltage.
3.3 V / (2^12 - 1) to mV
= 0.80586080586081 mV
Determine the theoretical minimum number of ADC bits required to achieve a precise 1 mV measurement resolution on a 5V system using the base-2 logarithm. (Units cancel out perfectly!)
log2(5 V / 1 mV)
= 12.287712379549
